I learn by going where I have to go.   ~ Theodore Roethke

On June 23, 2016, I received my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate from the Anahata Rising School of Yoga based at Bliss YogaSpa in Edmonton, Alberta. I received my training under the tutelage of Sheena Mason (Founder) and Lindsey Park (Lead Trainer). I have also practiced under the guidance of April Cantafio, Kat Boehm, Joshua Schofield, Ricky Brennan, Kim Wilkinson, and Chris Shewchuk.

I am trained to guide hot and regular temperature vinyasa-style flow classes for all levels (with modifications) with a focus on alignment, body awareness, opposing forces of yin/yang, contraction/relaxation, regulation of breath, and pranayama (or ‘breath control’) techniques to prepare the body for yoga asana or posture practice.  I also employ guided meditation and visualization exercises to encourage the practitioner to turn his/her outward gaze to the inner realm of the subtle body. Finally, as a former kung-fu practitioner, one can expect a little bit of “wushu flow” weaved in from time to time in my yoga class!  Yoga has always remained for me a meditative practice – that is, yoga IS meditation.

My goal as a yoga teacher is to provide a supportive and safe space for each of my students so that he or she may “drop in” on him/herself to experience the integration of body, mind, and breath in the wonder of the present moment. It is this integration that I believe constitutes the deep work of the practice of yoga (that continues always) and allows us to work towards greater freedom and clarity in our life.
